Guest terms
Ten things, plainly.
What you agree to, and what we owe you.
These are the terms for coming on the show. There is no contract to sign and no form to fill in. You read this, and you say yes in your booking email and again out loud at the top of the session. That is the whole process, and it is on purpose.
What you agree to
- We record, and we publish. The session is recorded from the moment you join. We publish it as the Wednesday livestream, the Friday episode, clips, and the permanent episode page, with the full transcript.
- Your name, voice, likeness, and bio can be used to promote the show, on any surface the show lives on, without an end date. That includes thumbnails, clips, share cards, the episode page, and the newsletter.
- The edit is ours. You see the cut before it ships and you can flag anything. Factual errors get fixed. Anything you said in the moment and are not comfortable with in hindsight comes out. The final call is the host's, and you do not hold approval or veto.
- The livestream is temporary, the episode is permanent. The Wednesday livestream recording is shared until the Friday episode is released, and then the episode replaces it. The episode does not expire.
- At most one sponsor runs in your episode. Most episodes carry a single short, clearly-labeled read in the middle of the show, and some ship with none at all. There is never more than one. It is never your brand unless we have discussed that separately, and it never implies you endorse them.
- You get one close: one ask, one URL. Pitching outside that close is the one thing we will edit out without discussion.
- Keep it SFW. No politics, no religion. We cannot bleep the livestream.
- Nobody pays anybody. No fee to come on, no fee for us, no payment for your appearance, no expenses.
- You can withdraw any time before recording. Once we have recorded, point 3 governs: things come out on request where the edit allows, but the episode itself is ours to publish.
- You keep your own clips, and your own ideas. Use any clip, quote, or still from your episode however you like, as long as the show credit is visible or spoken. No permission needed, no fee, forever. Any framework, method, or named idea you bring is yours before, during, and after the episode: we describe it, quote it, and link to it with your name on it. If we ever want to do more than that with it, we ask you first.
What we owe you
We prep you properly, we make you look good, we cut for your best moments and not your worst, we tag you everywhere your moments appear, and we keep your episode page live with your signal, your subtraction, and your link in it. If a third party ever wants to license a clip of you for commercial use, we route it to you first and agree terms together.
How you agree
Two lightweight steps, both taking seconds:
- In writing. Reply to your booking email with the word agreed, naming the version below. That reply is the record.
- Out loud. At the top of the session, before the show starts, the host names these terms and asks each person on camera to say yes. It lands on the recording with a timestamp.
We log the date, the version, and which way you agreed. Nothing else about you is kept.
Questions
Anything here you want changed for your episode, ask before you record: hey@sigsub.show. We would rather adjust than surprise you.
